IMPLEMENTATION OF A ¾ PERCENT SALES TAX

Shall the Walsh County Commission be authorized to implement and collect up to a new three-quarters of one percent (0.75%) sales and use tax outlined in Ordinance 2025-1 for the purpose of funding the construction of a County jail and Sheriff’s office?
___ Yes - means you approve Walsh County Ordinance 2025-1.
___ No - means you reject Walsh County Ordinance 2025-1.

​​*This sales tax is temporary and will automatically end once the bonds are fully paid off. Taxpayers will not continue paying this tax beyond what is needed to cover the cost of the project. Once the debt is cleared, the sales tax will be removed, ensuring no ongoing financial burden for the community.​​​​​​

Shall the general fund levy of Walsh County, North Dakota be increased from 60 mills up to 80
mills as outlined in Ordinance 2025-2 for the purpose of funding the construction and operation of a County jail and Sheriff’s office?

​​​How to Vote

Vote by mail (must submit ballot application to receive ballot)

Vote in person on the day of election at the Walsh County Courthouse, Farmers Room. The polls shall remain open from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (CT), for the special election.
​Vote by Mail Process and Important Dates

March 24: Walsh County will begin mailing ballot applications to active voters. Didn’t get one? No worries! You can download an application below.

April 3: The first day that Walsh County will begin mailing ballots to voters who have returned the ballot application. Applications will be accepted up to May 12 at 5:00 p.m. in-person.

May 12: Completed ballots must be returned to the Auditor's office by 5:00 p.m., or postmarked by May 12 to be counted during Canvass Board.​
